COMPUTERS BEING LEFT ON OVER NIGHT

Once again you are being asked to make sure that all computers in your rooms and offices are turned off every night. There are only a few exceptions to this request: computers running message boards, heating and ventilating schedule monitors, attendance home calling systems, etc. YOUR HELP IS NEEDED WITH THIS REQUEST. Costs associated with computers left on over night or over a weekend reduce the funds available for other desirable expenses like teaching supplies, text books, etc. As you leave for Mid-Winter Break, please be sure you turn off your computer and other technology in your area. Thanks for your help with this issue.

1. It allows for a complete backup of all files each night.

2. It saves electrical costs.

3. The computer fan will function better and longer.

4. The monitor will last longer.

5. It protects the computer from electrical surges that may come with bad weather.

6. It gives the computer a chance to rest and dump files in temporary memory.

7. It prevents access to your files by others.

8. Tech staff can only do database repair with everyone is out of the program.

9. It limits the dust drawn into the CPU by the fan.

10. It is the right thing to do!
