CURRICULUM OVERVIEW

Our curriculum is based on the Position Paper on Information Processing Skills written by the Library Media Program Advisory Committee for the Michigan State Board of Education which states:

School library media programs are designed to help students master information processing skills and become adults capable of learning over a lifetime.  The school library media program that is fully integrated into the school's curriculum is central to this learning process.  Such a program is designed to develop skills to locate, analyze, organize and evaluate information.

A comprehensive school library media program offers students and teachers a variety of alternatives for accomplishing learning objectives.  The resources of a school library media center should provide each student the opportunity to find appropriate media and materials to meet their needs for information and leisure learning experiences, at the level and in the format best suited for that learner.  It is important to create a supportive, responsive environment for learners with open access to resources, state-of-the-art technology, and appropriate facilities staffed by certified media specialists.
