| Welcome to Charlotte Public Schools Food and Nutrition Services
We offer breakfast and lunch at our high school, middle school and all our elementary schools. Menus are distributed to the buildings on a monthly basis and are posted on the Charlotte Public Schools Web Page. At Charlotte Public Schools Food Service Program we know how important it is for children to eat healthy. We provide a wide variety of nutritious food to our students daily to promote good health and education. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) regulates the National School Breakfast and Lunch Programs. Schools, like ours, must follow the meal patterns and portion sizes developed by the USDA. A school lunch consists of a choice of a main dish, a choice of two fruits and vegetables, a bread item and milk. The cost of lunch is $1.85 at the elementary schools, $2.20 at the Middle School, and from $2.20 to $2.60 at the High School. Ala-carte and snack items are available at the middle school and high school. Students may purchase these items in addition to their lunch. If you would like to limit the amount of money your child can spend on ala-carte, please call the Food Service office at 541-5140. The cost of a breakfast is $1.15 at all grade levels. Lunch and breakfast prices are subject to change (increase) annually at the recommendation of the Food Service Supervisor with approval from the Board of Education.
Our district uses software called Skyward that allows each student to have a personal food service barcode number or identification number which allow them to purchase items from a family account. If your child is attending grades 5 – 12, a PIN number will be issued. Your child will need this number in order to access their meal account. Please help your child memorize this number. All purchases are recorded and kept separate for each family member, but the cost is deducted from one family account. Grades K-4 has pre-printed envelopes available from your school’s office or you may use your own. Please make sure you write the child’s full name, parent’s name and school on the envelope. Please call Gloria Wilson at 541-5750 if you would like to have internet access to your food service account. Payments can be applied to your family account on a daily, weekly, monthly basis. Payment can be made by cash, check, or money order and either sent to school with your child or mailed to our Food Service central office at: Charlotte Public Schools ATTN: Food Service 378 State Street Charlotte, MI 48813 It is important to keep a positive balance in your students account, any questions or inquiry regarding account balances please call 541-5140. If you do not have money in your family account we will allow students to charge meals for 3 days, we will remind students they owe money and we will try to contact a parent by phone or mail for payment. If not repaid, student will be offered a Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwich and milk for lunch. If a payment is not received within a week of notification a stop will be placed on the account. If a hardship circumstance exist applications are available for the National School Lunch and Breakfast Program in your school’s office. All applications are confidential.
